Overview

Private Investment Platform is a product born from the lab’s innovation methodology, a process that encompasses ideation, discovery, scoping, incubation, and scale. The business came to us with a new idea to envision and create a digital platform to provide the bank’s sophisticated clients with a differentiated private equity platform.

Create a platform to digitally transform and streamline manual processes to improve the bank's product offerings and create added value for clients.

Outcomes

Co-created with business stakeholders to identify pain points and opportunities for revamping a manual and inefficient process, resulting in the launch of the first beta application directly for clients.

User research

We conducted design workshops involving various internal and external stakeholders along the value chain to understand more about the end-to-end process from different perspectives.

Through user research, we identified 2 main pain points with the current journey.

Pain Point

Due to the sophisticated nature of the products, clients must sign various agreements and declarations before receiving information. This process often occurs via email or requires wet ink signatures, making it highly manual and inefficient, as documents must be properly stored and archived.

How might we make the administrative parts of the process more efficient? — The current email process is inefficient and manual. A digital platform can also facilitate a self-service transfer of information.

Pain Point

When sharing products with clients, relationship managers rely on their own understanding to determine whether a client would be interested. However, this manual matching process is inefficient and may lead to mismatches.

How might we better match products to clients? —
Clients are interested in investing in industries and companies that they are familiar in and can potentially personally contribute to the growth.

Solution

A digital self-service platform for users to access a product marketplace. Personalised recommendations help match relevant products to the right client.

1. Digitisation of manual process

Old process — Clients are required to submit a signed hardcopy form to be able to find out more about products. Relationship managers also need to share product information with clients directly (via email).

Digital onboarding

Users can now digitally view and accept the terms & conditions and the non-disclosure agreement when onboarding to the platform. A digitally timestamped copy will be sent directly to internal systems for record-keeping, eliminating the need for back-and-forth communication between various parties.

Digital product catalogue

Users can now digitally access product documentation, including fund details, the fund prospectus, and various product information. Product cards also offer quick access to relevant information, helping users find products they are interested in. Users can request to register for the product through their relationship manager or fund manager via a CTA button.

2. Matching of products to clients

Old process — Relationship managers decide which products to recommend to which client based on their understanding of their clients.

Personalised recommendations

Products are automatically recommended on the dashboard based on user selected preferences during onboarding. Recommendations are also suggested based on user history, helping to better match products to user interests.
